  • Admission to Holy Communion Service

    St John’s Cathedral Wednesday 6 May 2026 commencing at 6pm

    Churchie students will be invited to celebrate being admitted to Holy Communion in a joint service with students from St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School and Sommerville House.

    Admission to Holy Communion is an invitation to students in Year 4 and above.

    All students in Year 4 learn about and explore the sacraments as part of their RE unit, ‘Celebrations express beliefs and values.’ Students in Year 5 and Year 6 will meet together and prepare in a small group as they go through a workbook, facilitated by Chaplain Stephanie in the Prep School.

    Students in Year 7 and above will be contacted by the Rev'd Sharon Mitchell.

    Sisters, from any school, are welcome to be admitted to Holy Communion with their brothers. Families will be contacted to make a time for preparation. 

    Please invite family and friends. They are welcome to support and attend this service, which will be followed by a light refreshments.

    If your child has not yet been baptised, this can occur during or prior to the Admission to Holy Communion Service. Please select a time to attend a special baptism preparation session with your son/ daughter.

  • Please send evidence of baptism through to Chaplain Stephanie's email stephanie.cotroneo@churchie.com.au This can be a scanned certificate or photo of the certificate. If you are having difficulty locating the baptism certificate, the church of baptism should be able to provide evidence of baptism. Contact Chaplain Stephanie if you are unable to to provide evidence. 

  • Godparents are people who promise to help share the Christian faith with their Godchild. They themselves need to be baptised. Candidates can have 1, 2, or 3 Godparents and it is ok if they are not all able to be present for the service.

  • Parents and candidates are required to attend an additional preparation session for the sacrament of Baptism. These will be group based and held in the school chapel. Please select one of the following times to attend. At least one parent is to attend this preparation with their child. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, please email Rev'd Sharon Mitchell to discuss an alternative time. sharon.mitchell@churchie.com.au
