My name is Deborah Henson-Conant, but you can call me DHC if you like. We're thrilled to see musicians out there enjoying and performing my music, and we would be honored to feature you in an upcoming Composer's Spotlight Series.

The goal of this series is to showcase YOU and what this piece means to you and your listeners, and what it’s brought to your life and your performance.

This is not a contest. It’s an ongoing series to share your personal experience with this piece.

This submission is based on how clear your answers are and whether we can see and hear you well in the video – not the level of your playing. Don’t worry about technical issues like grammar, spelling or how technically ‘slick’ your video is. I’m looking for real people playing this piece in real situations.

NOTE: I recommend you cut-and-paste your answers into the form from another document, rather than typing them right into the form. This form is generally stable, but I always recommend having a backup of anything you submit to an online form, just in case the internet does something wonky while you're filling it out.

Once you hit "Submit" you should get an email with the answers you submitted so you have them for your own records.

Paste the URL of the YouTube video of your performance of "Any music piece" that you'd like to apply with below. Please make sure the video begins with the performance, and not with introductions and stage entrances (unless they’re shorter than 5 seconds).

Add A Title for Your Video: (like: Mary Smith Plays "Baroque Flamenco" on a Frozen River in her Pyjamas, or Emil Wanderlust conducting an ensemble version of "Baroque Flamenco" performed by Australian Harpists in Downtown Chicago).

Description:

Add a 1-2 sentence description of the performance that includes WHO is playing, WHAT kind of performance it was, WHEN it happened (the date) and where (the venue – even if it’s just your home – city, state and country) plus anything else you want to say to help give readers a context in which to watch it. [Max word count approx 200]

THE MINI-INTERVIEW:

Try to keep your answers to under 200 words per section for answers 2-7.

6. What do you think you can get from working directly with the composer of the piece that you can’t get from the sheet music?
