  • The Ceremony

There are a variety of ways in which ceremonies take place.  The following is a general outline of a typical ceremony. We are happy to purchase music for your ceremony as long as it's available - for example Apple Music. If the song is not available for purchase, please make arrangements during your call to provide the song to the DJ.

  • An alternative to the traditional bouquet and garter toss is to call out all of the ladies, married or not, to the dance floor. The bride then tosses the bouquet and whoever catches it gets to keep it, that simple.  This way there is no calling out single people, stopping the dancing.  This method takes much less time and works well for the bride that is excited about tossing her bouquet but would rather skip the other traditional steps.  If you'd like to do this, please discuss it with your DJ.

  • FYI: About one in ten couples will elect to have a bouquet and garter toss.  If you choose to, it is HIGHLY recommended that it is reserved for guests over 18 years old.

  • Check out this playlist for bouquet toss song ideas.

  • Most couples do not have the bouquet and garter catchers dance together, but if you would like to, please let us know the song to play.
  • For song suggestions for the anniversary dance, check out this playlist.

  • FYI: The Anniversary Dance works well if you have a lot of guests who have been married for a long time.  It works like this: Your DJ will invite all married couples to the dance floor to share a dance with the newlyweds.  Once the dance floor is full, your DJ will politely ask couples (with the exception of the newlyweds) who've been married less than 1 year...then 5 years...then 10 years, 20 years, etc. to please leave the dance floor.  You will be left dancing with the couple that has been married the longest (often grandparents).  Your DJ will get a round of applause for them and then ask them if they have any advice for you (since they've got more experience than anyone else in the room).

  • Reception Music

We are happy to purchase music for your receptiion as long as it's available - for example Apple Music. If the song is not available for purchase, please make arrangements during your call to provide the song to the DJ.
  • The music played at your reception will help set the mood for the entire night.  Your Mike Staff Productions DJ is extremely knowledgable and well rounded when it comes to music.  Additionally, he or she has many years of experience getting people on the dance floor and in making sure that all of your guests are happy and enjoying the music.

While you are free to choose as much music as you'd like for your wedding reception, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you trust your DJ.  At Mike Staff Productions, you hired a professional, experienced wedding DJ that is an expert at keeping the party going.  Therefore, we strongly suggest you allow your DJ to mix some of your suggestions, with your guests's requests and other selections to create a fun-filled night that is uniquely yours and that all your guests will enjoy.

  • Are there any songs that you do not want played? When choosing song you DO NOT want played, try not to choose songs that are hugely popular. Certain "wedding songs" are popular because people love to dance to them.

  • Are there any songs that you want played ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, NO MATTER WHAT? These are songs that you must hear at your wedding reception regardless if people dance to them (remember, we can play 13-15 songs per hour).

  • Please list some songs that you'd like to hear, but only if people dance to them. In other words, you won't get mad at your DJ if all of these songs are not played.
