• Mathematics Intervention & Remediation Instructor Application: Summer 2021

  • This position is designed for aspiring and early career mathematics educators with a passion for educating students from urban areas. The Mathematics Intervention & Remediation Instructor will be responsible for teaching pre-algebraic and algebraic skills to students between 6th and 9th grade.

    The ideal candidate has a passion for working with students from urban areas, advanced knowledge of mathematics, and 1+ years' experience tutoring or teaching high school level mathematics. 

    Position Overview

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Under the supervision of an academic coach, creating engaging lesson plans in line with NJ State Standards
    • Collaborate with fellow team members to co-plan and co-teach lessons
    • Connect with and inspire students

    Benefits include:

    • Supervision and coaching from an NJ certified teacher
    • Competitive compensation ($2000-$2800 for the program)

    Covid Notice

    • This is an in-person program.
    • Class sizes will be limited. 
    • All staff and students will be required to adhere to Covid protocols including mask-wearing, surface cleaning, and social distancing when appropriate.

  • Optional Lesson Plan: We encourage all candidates to submit a lesson plan for a mathematics topic. Be sure that the lesson plan is your own original plan about which you can discuss your intentions and ideals. If you have had the opportunity to teach this lesson, feel free to include your reflections on the lesson at the end of the plan.

  • The Mathematics Intervention & Remediation Instructor will work with struggling mathematics students from Trenton, NJ to sharpen their basic math skills as well as design lessons that complement students' current grade level topics. Our proven model focuses on increasing student confidence and comprehension of math topics.
