  • Submissions accepted for publication acknowledge that "publication" means that the work may be used, entirely or partially, on any of the Piano Magazine platforms (print, digital, social media, etc.)

The Piano Magazine editorial committee will conduct blind peer reviews of unsolicited well-written, 1,500-2,000 word articles on topics related to piano playing, teaching, and learning for possible publication. All unsolicited articles should be submitted through this online submission portal, not through direct email to the editor. Longer articles may not be reviewed. The Piano Magazine does not accept unsolicited interviews at this time.

All submissions will be blind peer reviewed by at least three members of the Editorial Board. Normally, authors will receive a response about the status of the submission within 6-8 weeks.

There are three courses of action after peer review:

    • Accept with suggestions for minor revisions
    • Accept with suggestions for major revisions
    • Not ready for publication at this time

Authors whose work is accepted for publication should anticipate re-writing portions of the article, under the guidance of an editor, in order to meet the publication standards of the Piano Magazine and to meet the needs of the Piano Magazine audience. Authors will be notified of status of the peer review (and assigned an editor, if their work is accepted) by the Editor-In-Chief.

Edited articles accepted for publication will be placed in a queue for publication. They will appear based on suitability/applicability to theme of each Piano Magazine issue and length of time since acceptance. We will attempt to publish (in print or online) all articles within 18 months of acceptance.

Authors whose work appears in print will receive one complimentary copy of the print version of the Piano Magazine (issue in which the article is included). Articles will be available online or in print for subscribers. Authors will be able to subscribe at a discounted rate for 30-days following publication of article.
