    Application for Henderson Experiential Learning Award

    College of Social Science | 2026-27 Academic Year
  • This experiential learning award is designed to support students enrolled in the College of Social Science. It may be used to fund opportunities such as civic engagement and service learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, and internships.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Open to students in good academic standing who are majors in the College of Social Science.
    • Applicants must be enrolled in experience-based learning through an unpaid internship, education abroad program, study away program, or service learning program in Summer 2026.

    Preference may be given to Veterans from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

    TO APPLY:

    1. Submit a one- to two-page statement explaining why you wish to participate in experiential learning and how the Henderson Scholarship would support your participation.

    Include in your statemement what program you plan to enroll in, why you chose it, and the program dates.

    DEADLINE:

    Applications and all supporting materials must be submitted by Sunday, January 18, 2026.

    NOTE:

    All required materials must be uploaded before submitting the application. All letters of recommendation must be received by the deadline for the application to be considered complete.

  • If the author of the Letter of Recommendation requires the letter sealed and delivered to the college office, please drop-off or mail to the College of Social Science, Office of Undergraduate Studies, 509 E. Circle Drive, Berkey Hall, Room 221, East Lansing, MI 48823; or they may email the letter to SSC.AcademicAffairs@msu.edu.

    NOTE:  It is the student’s responsibility to make sure the letter is received in 221 Berkey Hall prior to the deadline.  If the letter is not received by the deadline, the letter will not be included for consideration with the application.
