The 40-Hour Program is recommended for native speakers of non-English languages who have completed at least a high school education in a country where the course of study was in the non-English language.

Welcome to Culture Advantage!

This is the information for your selected Program Plan, Basic 40-Hour Language-specific Program.

This is a 9 to 12 week program. (You may request a 4-week extension at no charge after 12 weeks if you are not able to complete the program at that time.)

These are the required courses to receive a Certificate of Completion:

• Part 1: Comprehensive Anatomy and Medical Terminology in English 3 weeks
• Part 2: Anatomy and Medical Terminology Translations in your non-English language. Oral and written translations (You do not take the Part 2 lessons, but you submit the translations.) (3 Weeks)
• Part 3: Medical Interpreting Concepts (Standards, Ethics, Role Boundaries, Consecutive Interpreting, Sight Translation, Simultaneous Interpreting, Cultural Competency, HIPAA, etc.) with assignments in both languages. (3 weeks)
• Final Exam in both languages.

You should complete each part in 2 weeks if you plan on finishing within 6 weeks. You should complete each part in 3 weeks, if you plan on finishing within 9 weeks.

In order to help you master the concepts, active participation in two weekly practice sessions is required for Part 1 and two weekly sessions for Part 3. Practice sessions for Part 2 is optional. The 40-Hour program does not include Part 2 practice sessions, but you may sign up for practice sessions (Extra Fee). Simply send a request to attend a session and pay the fee at that time.

Note: As of this summer 2019, we are offering free 4 weeks extension after 12 weeks. Current Extension Fee is $90.00 per month.

Payment Options

You may choose the payment option that would work best for your needs. Please contact me with questions before you sign up.

1. Prepaid Option

$595.00 prepays Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

The final exam is paid separately when you reserve the final exam date: $100.00.

Final Exam Retake Fee: (If needing to retake the final exam) $75.00

You have 3 weeks access for Part 1, 3 weeks access for Part 2, 3 weeks access for Part 3. You should reserve your final exam date when you get to Part 3.

Part 1 (Section 1 and Section 2): 3-4 weeks access

Part 2 (Section 1 and Section 2): 3-4 weeks access

Part 3 (Section 1 and Section 2): 3-4 weeks access

For the prepaid option, each course is to completed consecutively and progress is based on satisfactory performance for each section including participation in practice sessions.

If you would like to finish sooner, in less than 9 weeks, you may sign up for Special Services $120.00.Please contact me before signing up for Special Services.

 

 

 

2. Per Course Option:

Part 1 (Section 1 and Section 2): $250.00 (4 to 6 weeks access)

Part 2 (Section 1 and Section 2): $250.00 (4 to 6 weeks access) - You submit translations only. The course is not included in the 40-Hour program.

Part 3 (Section 1 and Section 2): $250.00 (4 to 6 weeks access)

Final Exam Fee: $100.00 (to be paid when reserving the final exam date when you get to Part 3)

Final Exam Retake Fee: (If needing to retake the final exam) $75.00.

 

You only receive access to each part that you pay for. If you would like to progress sooner, you should complete all of the lessons/requirements including participation in practice sessions for the first part, and complete the payment for the next part, etc. Progress is based on satisfactory performance.

Completing the program in less than 4 weeks is not advisable as interpreters need to develop knowledge and skills and practice them, and generally, it takes time to improve one's competencies.

Progress is based on satisfactory performance and any incomplete or failed exams would need to be remediated and can cause delays in your progress and/or additional fees.

 

Starting the Program

After you complete payment processing, you will receive an email confirmation. It may take at least 4-6 hours during office hours.

After the email confirmation, you will receive your log in access to the online orientation.

Please complete the online orientation as soon as possible if you want to get started on the same day.

If payment is received before 12 noon CST, you usually get started on the same day.

If you do not meet all of the requirements, you should take the Screening Test (with fee) so you know if you have the language proficiency to take the program. You may sign up here and take the Screening Test at your own time. The test is about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the test-taker.

Are you ready to start?

You may start at any time. There is no waiting period.

Once you complete payment processing, you will receive your log in access within the same day. (Or you may leave a message what day you would like to start.)

First, you will receive access to the Online Orientation so you can become familiar with the course format and so you can optimize your operating system. During this time, please feel free to contact us so we can assist you personally.

After the orientation is completed, you will receive access to the first section!

Please note: There is a $30.00 cancellation fee if the transaction is cancelled within 24 hours. If the transaction is cancelled after 24 hours, but within 7 days of registration, the cancellation fee is $50.00. There is no refund after one week of registration. You may request to change your start date to accomodate your personal needs after registration. The program must be completed within 6 months of starting the program (with extension fees). Additional fees may be charged for any participation or access to any part of the program such as Orientation, Pretest, or access to any of the learning activities. The cancellation process may take at least 24 hours.
