The Dennis Schapiro Innovation in Montessori Teacher Education Award is awarded annually to a member of the Montessori Teacher Education community that has brought about significant change.

Dennis Schapiro was an innovator. He wasn’t afraid to bring about change.  Catherine McTamaney, author and education lecturer at Vanderbilt University was quoted saying “Denny pushed us to think beyond our sphere, …reconciling our visions of Montessori.”

Have you or a colleague brought about significant change in Montessori Teacher Education?  Please submit a nomination (for yourself or another) for the Dennis Schapiro Innovation in Montessori Teacher Education Award. To submit a nomination, please write a short 1-page narrative that targets one or more of the innovation parameters listed below.

• Developing an innovative approach to Montessori Teacher Education
• Addressing a specific need in Montessori Teacher Education
• Taking advantage of a new opportunity
• Removing barriers or broadening the reach of international education
• Demonstrating any documented evidence of candidate performance with which the program makes its case in their Self Study must include a variety of measures
• Cooperating and collaboration with other Montessori Teacher Education programs/institutions in other countries
