If a care receiver asks you to do additional things for them (eg: stop at extra stores on your way home, run the vacuum cleaner while you are at the home, etc), you should (check all that are acceptable):
Do the extra thing if you know it is a permitted service, if you have time, and if you want to
Do what they are asking even if you don't want to or don't truly have time
Call the office if you are not sure you are premitted to do what they are asking
Suggest that they call the program office to put in a new request for that service
If nobody answers the door when you arrive at the care receiver's home, you should:
Call 911 right away
See if you can find a spare key under the doormat to let yourself in. If that doesn't work, call the office, and if that doesn't work, call 911
Wait a few minutes and knock again or call on your cell phone. If that doesn't work, call the office. If that doesn't work or if you have concerns about the care receiver's safety, call 911
Leave immediately
It is important to stay in regular contact with the In Service of Seniors office about (check all that are acceptable):
If you noticed any concerning changes in the care receiver(s) you are helping
If you had a really great time with a care receiver
If you are not enjoying helping a care receiver and would like a new match
If you are no longer able to help a care receiver
When you accept a request from a care receiver, you should (check all that are acceptable):
Not do anything further until it's time to pick them up
Contact the care receiver as soon as you can to confirm the date and time of their appointment/trip/visit
Call the care receiver, using *67 to block your number from caller ID
Call the care receiver and leave your personal number so they can call you back if they need to
