• DESOTO HIGH SCHOOL EAGLE BAND

  • DeSoto High School Band Electronic Permission Form

  • Dear Band and Color Guard Parents:
    The internet is a vast and rapidly growing worldwide network of millions of computers. No individual or group runs the internet; it is a collective effort of thousands of information providers: schools, governments, nonprofit groups, commercial groups, and individuals. Internet users now number tens of millions.

    Many DeSoto Independent School District’s campuses are able to use the Internet’s rich resources and also to publish information on the Internet. As part of the many technology applications employed across the curriculum, the school may wish to publish a variety of teacher, and student products on the Internet. The types of products may include, but are not limited to: photographs, creative writing, artwork, slide presentations, and audio/visual productions. Visit the Eagle Band Website at www.eagleband.org to submit your email electronically and receive information and reminders for band/color guard activities.

    Please fill out this form, sign at the bottom, and return it to band booster president or webmaster.

  • Drug Testing Consent

  • MANDATORY DRUG TESTING

    The District requires drug testing of any student in grades 8–12 who chooses to participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities and/or requests a permit to park a vehicle on school property. School-sponsored extracurricular activities for which testing is required include: band, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, choir, cross country, drill team, football, golf, journalism, soccer, softball, speech, debate, drama, swimming, tennis, track and field, UIL academic contests, volleyball, and wrestling. A student participating in these activities and/or requesting a parking permit shall randomly be tested for the presence of illegal drugs and alcohol throughout the school year. The purposes of the drug-testing program are to:

    1. Prevent injury, illness, and harm resulting from the use of illegal and performance-enhancing drugs or alcohol;
    2. Help enforce a safe and drug-free educational environment;
    3. Deter student use of illegal and performance-enhancing drugs or alcohol;
    4. Educate students regarding the harm caused by the use of illegal and performance-enhancing drugs or alcohol;
    5. Offer students a credible means to resist peer pressure as it relates to the use of illegal drugs, performance-enhancing drugs, and/or alcohol; and
    6. Provide a resource for support and assistance to any student who may be using illegal drugs, performance-enhancing drugs, and/or alcohol.

    USE OF TESTING RESULTS

    Drug test results shall be used only to determine eligibility for a parking permit and/or participation in extracurricular activities. Positive drug test results alone shall not be used to impose disciplinary sanctions or academic penalties. Additionally, unless required by court order or subpoena, drug test results shall not be released to law enforcement. Note, however, that nothing in this policy shall limit or affect the duties and responsibilities of the District as defined by state law, DISTRIBUTION OF POLICY ORIENTATION MEETINGS CONSENT USE OF RESULTS DeSoto ISD 057906 STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FNF INTERROGATIONS AND SEARCHES (LOCAL) DATE ISSUED: 8/1/2013 4 of 7 LDU 2013.03 FNF (LOCAL)-X Board policy, and the Student Code of Conduct.
