  • Application to join with Elim Fellowship

To apply for Ministerial Credentials and/or Missionary Appointment, please complete this entire form. Thank You!
  • We are excited that you desire to join Elim Fellowship's Global Ministries Team! With this application, you are applying for either International Worker or Home Missionary status with Elim Fellowship. Along with joining the Elim Fellowship Global Ministries Team, you also receive credentials with Elim Fellowship.

  • 1. Qualifications of Credential Holders. Recognizing that each credential holder is a person who is responding to a genuine call from God, it is anticipated that the highest personal character will be recognized in each person. The Apostle Paul's words in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 will be considered as the Biblical standard set forth before each applicant.

Additionally, it is expected that each applicant would give evidence of a genuine born again experience and should have been baptized in water and with the Holy Spirit. (John 3:3; Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:4) Evidence is expected for every candidate as to spiritual growth and an increase in maturity of character during the years they have walked and continue to walk with God. It is anticipated that they will have a basic working knowledge of the Bible and be integrally involved as active members of a local church.

A willingness to learn and to serve, a willingness to take responsibility and authority, a willingness to be accountable, a willingness to be flexible in changing situations and a willingness and an ability to seek and train others will be among the characteristics expected in a ministerial candidate.

    2. The processing of an application includes a personal interview, a review of your ministry preparation and experience, contacting your references and checking your credit and criminal records.

  • Ordination is granted to those with a recognized and proven ministry. It acknowledges the outworking of the sovereign call of God in a life and is generally of a marked nature, which receives more than local acceptance.

Recognition of Ordination is granted to those applicants who hold ordination with a recognized church body and desire to transfer that ordination to Elim Fellowship. Recognition of Ordination is equivalent to ordination by the Fellowship.

Chaplaincy Ordination is granted to those who Elim Fellowship recognizes God has called to serve in the area of Chaplaincy and have demonstrated both a calling and an ability to minister. The status of Chaplaincy Ordination authorizes one to perform duties necessary to and for the specific ministry. Once the applicant's time with the specific ministry ends, the Chaplaincy Ordination credential expires at that time.

License to Minister is given to those who Elim Fellowship recognizes that God has called them to serve in a specific ministry. This credential gives the authority to perform duties necessary to and for a specific ministry. Once the applicant's time with that specific ministry ends, the license credential expires at that time.

Christian Worker certificates are issued to recognize the initial call into ministry and identify the individual's call in the early stages of its development. Each person recognized as a Christian Worker must be supervised by a minister recognized by Elim Fellowship. The responsibilities of a Christian Worker will depend on the minister under whom they may be working.

  • Missionary Information

  • The next few questions refer to the Cooperation Organization that you plan to work with once on the field. Assuming your application for missionary service is approved, the Global Ministries Office will create a document which serves as a contract between Elim Fellowship and the Co-op concerning your missionary service.

If you already have a Co-op, you must request that the organization send the G.M. Secretary an official "Letter of Invitation & Ministry Description" indicating their desire to have you work with them on the field, and a brief overview of your roles and their expectations of you once there. Refer to the Secretary for further details regarding this, if need be.

If you don't know what organization you want to serve with, no problem! That is why we are here. We will walk with you to find a place to serve. Feel free to skip the following questions and start back at, "How has the Lord led you to pursue missions?"

  • Expectations of Credential Holders

  • Renewals. Credentials are renewed annually (from October 1-September 30). There is an annual credential holder's renewal fee. The present fee is $75 per year for individuals or $95 per year for married couples. Credential renewal is not automatic, but is granted as the Council of Elders review each annual request by the credential holders. A notice and form for credential renewals is sent to each credential holder approximately 4 weeks prior to renewal date.

Financial Support. The ministry of Elim Fellowship, with its offices and administrative overhead, involves considerable expense. We believe that total involvement with the Fellowship means standing with us in the area of finances as well as in other areas such as prayer, involvement in Fellowship activities, mutual support and counsel.

EF Credential Holders holding a License to Minister or Ordination credential are asked to give 5% of their annual income. All earned income of the credential holder should be considered in determining this 5% support gift. We thank you for your financial participation.

EF Credential Holders holding a Christian Workers certificate are asked to make an annual contribution of $360. We thank you for your financial participation.

  • Interpersonal Relationship. Receiving credentials from Elim Fellowship extends far beyond the acknowledging of God's call on a life and recognition of that call by others. Those who hold credentials within the Fellowship must acknowledge, with the receiving of their credentials, that they are joined together with all Elim credential holders. We extend ourselves one to another in brotherhood and fellowship, not because we are in total agreement in every area of our understanding, but because we recognize that we voluntarily unite together as brethren under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Elim Fellowship speaks of mutual submission and support. It speaks of brethren working out their faith with other brethren in ways that will in every way cause the world to know that Christianity is a unique lifestyle. We need to hear God through one another, and we need to be willing to walk with one another when things do not go our way. When difficulties surround, we must be willing to lay the matter before God and our brethren for resolution and healing. As Elim Fellowship continues to grow in God, requests for credentials and the granting thereof will cause you to be involved in a brotherhood which counts dearly the cost of standing one with another.

If you agree to being a Credential Holder of Elim Fellowship, you agree to be notified of all information deemed pertinent by the Fellowship; either by mail or email. Elim Fellowship will not provide your name and contact information to any other organization except Elim Bible College. Neither Elim Fellowship nor Elim Bible College will "sell" or give your contact information to any other organization.

  • Fellowship Meetings. Credential holders strengthen one another by joining together in Fellowship gatherings. Each credential holder is assigned to a geographic area and is asked to attend the ministerial area and regional meetings that are held periodically.

  • Information Concerning Elim Fellowship

  • Elim Fellowship is a Body of Ministers who hold certain core doctrines of faith and live by those core doctrines.

    OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

     1.        We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God.  (II Tim. 3:16,17)

     2.        We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  (II Cor. 13:14)

     3.        We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious death and atonement through His shed Blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His present priestly ministry.  (I Tim. 3:16; Rom. 3:25,26)

     4.        We believe in evangelistic and missionary fervor and endeavor.   (Acts 1:8; Mark 16:15-18)

     5.        We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.  We further believe in the keeping power of God.  (Heb. 9:22; Jude 24,25)

     6.        We believe that sanctification, holiness and the overcoming life is God's design for the Church, which is the Bride of Christ.  (Eph. 5:25-27)

     7.        We believe that sexual purity is a necessary expression for all of God's children and requires abstinence from adultery, fornication, incest, homosexuality, or other sexual relationships or practices forbidden by Scripture.  (Heb. 13:4, I Cor. 6:18; Lev. 18:1-30)

     8.        We believe God created mankind as two distinct sexes: male and female and that each person affirms God's infinite wisdom by living in alignment with their birthsex.  (Gen. 1:26-28; Matt. 19:4-5)

     9.        We believe that marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime and is a sacred institution established by God.  (Matt. 19:4-6)

    10.       We believe that since mankind is created in God's image, human life is of inestimable worth and significance in all its dimensions, from conception to the grave.  (Gen. 1:27; Psalm 139:13-14)

    11.       We believe that Baptism is for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and is to be administered by immersion, thus bearing witness to the gospel of Christ's death, burial and resurrection for us, and our own new life in Him.  (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4)

    12.       We believe that Communion, when shared by believers, witnesses to the saving power of the gospel, to Christ's presence in His church, and looks forward to His victorious return.  (I Cor. 11:23-26)

    13.       We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as on the day of Pentecost and in the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit as evidenced in charismatic gifts and ministries, and in the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.  (Acts 2:4; Acts 10:46; Acts 19:6; Eph. 4:11; I Cor. 12:8-11; Gal. 5:22,23)

    14.       We believe that divine healing is obtained on the basis of the Atonement. (I Pet. 2:24; Matt. 8:17)

    15.       We believe in Christ's imminent personal return in power and great glory, and in His present and everlasting dominion.  (Acts 1:8; Rev. 1:7; Dan. 7:14)

    16.       We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of eternal punishment.  (Jn. 5:28,29; Rev. 20:15)

  • ELIM FELLOWSHIP'S STATEMENT CONCERNING DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE

Adopted by the Council of Elders of Elim Fellowship on October 23, 1984

We regard marriage as a sacred relationship instituted by God for the mutual well-being, joy and fulfillment of husband and wife. The Scriptures clearly teach that God intended marriage to be a monogamous relationship, faithfully sustained by both partners until terminated by death.

We urge upon our pastors to teach by precept and example the high standard of marriage as presented in the Scriptures.

Because of harm done to society, the church, the home, family ties and the individuals involved, we discourage divorce. When a marriage is threatened, we urge tht every consideration be given to the possibility of reconciliation and the healing of the relationshp through forgiveness so that the tragedy of divorce might be avoided.

Since some hold the view that divorce and remarriage are permissible "for the cause of fornication" (Matt. 5:31,32; Matt. 19:3-9) we recommend that each pastor hold to his conviction of the Scriptural position regarding the remarriage of divorced persons whenever he is asked to officiate. In cases where convictions permit him to officiate for such persons, a pastor should be in agreement with the leadership of the local congregation and confer with mature, ordained brethren of the Fellowship.

Since a minister of the gospel is to be an example of godliness, his marital status must be blameless and above reproach. (1 Tim. 3:2-7; Titus 1:6-9)

  • Information Concerning Credential Application

Requirements for Credentials. Applicants for all levels of credentialing may obtain the appropriate application on the EF website or in paper from the central offices in Lima, New York. Those desiring credentials should acquaint themselves thoroughly with the purposes and practices of Elim Fellowship as revealed in its Constitution and By-laws. It is expected that applicants will be in accord with the Statement of Faith of the Fellowship and will endorse those principles in the conduct of their ministry.

    Elim Fellowship Constitution and Bylaws

Although there are no formal educational requirements for credentials, those who review applications will take into consideration the educational preparation accomplished by each individual. In order to better equip applicants for ministry, they may be required to read books from a prescribed reading list. Formal training, although it carries weight in the evaluation process, in no way will substitute for personal character, experience and other accepted qualifications for the ministry.

Granting of Credentials. All credential applicants will be formally notified of the decision made by the Council of Elders. Those receiving a License to Minister credential or Christian Worker certificate will receive the formal recognition of their credentials at a meeting of Elim Fellowship ministers in the area in which the live, or if this is not possible because of geographical limitations, the certificate will be presented either personally by an officer of the Fellowship or will be received through the mail.

Those being Ordained by Elim Fellowship will be so recognized by the laying on of hands by one or more persons duly authorized by the Council. The ordination will take place in a formal ceremony.

Revocation of Credentials. Ministerial credentials may be revoked by the Council of Elders of the Fellowship upon clearly documented substantiation of moral charges, serious departure from the Faith or a manifest spirit of rebellion. Such revocation will be enacted only after very careful and prayerful evaluations of all aspects of the charges brought against a minister. Such action is taken in the gravest sense of responsibility before God and is not lightly accomplished.

  • Governance of Elim Fellowship. Elim Fellowship is an Association of Churches led by a Council of Elders and Executive Officers. Nominations for EF Elders, Officers and Trustees are made by the Council of Elders. An annual business meeting is held each year at which the membership is given an opportunity to affirm the individual Elders and elect any Officers or Trustees who have been nominated for a term of office that year. A financial report is given to the membership at that time. Changes in the bylaws and constitution of Elim Fellowship would first be approved by the Council of Elders and then would require a 2/3 approval by the membership present at an annual or special meeting called for that purpose.

  • Personal References

Applicants for a Christian Worker certificate, License to Minister, or Ordination must submit at least six (6) references in addition to the interview with the Area Representative. The references should include the applicant's current pastor. If the applicant is a pastor, another pastor or church leader who knows the applicant well is to be used as "current pastor." If possible, at least one of the references should be an Elim Fellowship credential holder.

We will send references forms to each of your references to be returned directly to us.
