• CPD Partial Exemption Request

    Australian Orthoptic Board
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is necessary to assist Orthoptists maintain professional knowledge, update practising skills and ensure the highest quality care is provided for patients/clients.

Participation in CPD is compulsory to maintain registration.  The CPD Program requires a minimum of 50 points of approved CPD accrued in the two year registration period.

The Board recognises however there may be periods of absence from the orthoptic workforce which will make it difficult to accrue the full 50 points in a CPD cycle and provides for a partial exemption in special circumstances.

It is considered there is a sufficient range of activities available to make 18 CPD points attainable over the two year CPD cycle even if not working. A minimum of 18 CPD points will be required.

Partial exemption must be approved by the Board.
