The University of Minnesota’s Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) is working to improve Minnesota’s air quality. MnTAP is a non-regulatory organization that provides free, confidential technical assistance to help Minnesota businesses prevent pollution at the source, maximize efficient use of resources, and reduce energy use and costs. One of our current efforts is helping businesses reduce solvents used for degreasing while still maintaining effectiveness without increasing costs.
To help auto repair shops and recyclers reduce their VOC emissions, MnTAP is planning a number of pilot projects to identify the best lower VOC alternative products. Participating MN businesses will receive a free supply of sample product(s) and hands-on technical support to make sure the new products perform up to expectations and meet all cleaning needs.
We have developed this short (~10 minute) survey to help us understand the current use of degreasing solvents in automotive shops, and to identify companies that may be interested in working with us to develop VOC reduction strategies. You will be asked to create a unique, anonymous identifier code so that survey results may be matched up with a follow-up survey at the end of the project. Otherwise, your survey response is anonymous unless you choose to enter your contact information.
