ASAM Made Easy has been morphed into a two-day workshop. The most common finding State Auditors have with client records is treatment plans. Adding this to ASAM should be a great help to people struggling with this paperwork. Taught by Felecia Otis, BS, CADC III.

This 5 day 40 hour training has to be done in two segments, 16 hours of online modules and 3 days of zoom class that runs from 8am to 4pm! Online modules need to be done before zoom class. The zoom segment includes Communication and Motivational skills, Group facilitation, Crisis intervention, Assertive Outreach, Culture, Trauma, Ethics and Boundaries. Recovery background is required for certification.There is a known issue with the modules not issuing a certificate of completion and advancing automatically to the next module, please just back out and go to the next module. This will not affect your class credit. You will receive credit for completing each module.

This workshop will review the principles of COD-substance abuse and mental health disorders and criminality, in light of substance-induced brain injury. Participants will practice using validated screening and assessment instruments using TIP 42. Taught by Andrea Burgess CADC I

This course builds upon a basic understanding of the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s (ASAM) guiding principles, six-dimension biopsychosocial assessment, and patient placement standards. Participants will refresh knowledge and refine skills related to basic competencies in substance use treatment with a special focus on how withdrawal acuity, biomedical conditions, and cognitive/behavioral/emotional conditions interact with other ASAM dimension severity. The course uses Motivational Interviewing and The Transtheoretical Model to develop insights and clinical language related to assessing and developing an individual’s readiness to change and engage in services. The course also develops concepts related to identifying how social systems and cultural identities impact a person’s vulnerabilities to relapse and continued use. Participants will use case studies to practice implementing skills while preserving integrity of assessment and treatment planning during the utilization review process. Completion of a Basic ASAM training is required to take this course. If you have not completed the Basic ASAM through Daystar, we will need proof of completion emailed or faxed to us.
