We are delighted to offer the sacrament of baptism for children of Old Boys and our current Churchie community. Baptism is, first and foremost, a welcome into the Christian community and a commitment to faithfully serve God in the church and the world. When a child is baptised, their parents and Godparents make these solemn promises on their behalf. For this reason, Godparents should be carefully chosen as the people most able to nurture exploration and wonder in a child as they grow in faith and wisdom.
Some families prefer to wait until a child is old enough to make their own decision about committing to the Christian faith before seeking baptism. For others, especially those who are new to the Christian context of Churchie, the exploration of faith is still new and unfolding. In such cases, we suggest considering a service of ‘Thanksgiving For a Child’, which marks the wonderful gift of a new person in your family. This service reflects many of the same hopes and prayers that characterise the baptism service, while allowing the significance of those promises to be explored at a future time.
