We are looking for a few good mentors.
University College is looking for a strong cohort of Transfer Peer Mentors for the fall 2015 semester. Transfer Peer Mentors serve to support incoming transfer students with their transition to UNCW. In particular, Transfer Peer Mentors are heavily involved with UNI 201: Transfer Seminar. Each mentor attends class and campus programming with a section of UNI 201. If you are interested in helping fellow transfers transition and succeed at UNCW, you should consider applying. You will find the qualifications, job responsibilities, and a link to the application below. Applications are due Monday, March 30th.
More information about UNI 201 can be found here: http://uncw.edu/uc/advising/UNI201.html
If you have questions about the position or UNI 201, please contact Reed Curtis, Coordinator of Transfer Seminars, at curtisr@uncw.edu
Application Information: The application will take you around 30 minutes to complete. You will be asked to provide demographic information, detail your availability for meetings and training, to include the names and contact information for three references, and answer the following questions: Why are you interested in a peer mentor position? What do you hope to gain from this leadership opportunity? What do you see as three (3) major issues facing transfer students? Why do you feel you are a strong candidate for this position? How would you as a peer mentor help students facing these issues? What issues/topics would you find most difficult helping your peers address? You may want to write the answers to these questions in a word document and save a copy in case you accidently close the application.
