The aims of the NSDC are:
- to organise appropriate events to mark National Sorry Day and the National Apology Anniversary
- to monitor and oversee the implementation of the recommendations of the Bringing them home Report.
- to support and promote the processes of healing among those who were forcibly removed, their families and their communities.
- to uphold the reconciliatory partnership between the 'First Nations Peoples of Australia' and the 'Broader Australian Community' that underpins the origins and continued endeavours of the NSDC.
- to actively assist in raising awareness and knowledge of the history and continuing effects of the past and present practices of removal.
- to encourage the 'First Nations Peoples of Australia' and 'The Broader Australian Community' to work for recognition and justice for First Nations Peoples forcibly removed from their families as children under the forcible removal policies (the Stolen Generations), and for their families and communities for time immemorial.
- to advocate for the rights of the Stolen Generations generally, and promote actions leading to safe and secure communities for our children.
- to establish and enhance working relationships with other organisations that support the aims of the NSDC.
- to raise funds to carry out the above.
By way of this application, I confirm that I support the aims of the NSDC and agree to be bound by the provisions of the NSDC Constitution.
