New Jersey Smart Workplaces Nomination Form

The Transportation Management Association Council of New Jersey seeks nominations to recognize employers for their outstanding achievements in implementing programs that provide and promote commuting alternatives for their employees, thus reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. Under the New Jersey Smart Workplaces program, official representatives may nominate their employers for the bronze, silver, gold or platinum level recognition as described below.
BRONZE LEVEL

Complete 4 to qualify
Establish and maintain relationship with TMA
Designate an onsite point of contact for employee commute questions
Provide commute option information to prospective employees at job fairs or in new hire packets
Provide employee with access to site specific commuter information
Regularly promote commute options and TMA incentives through regular memos, postings, email, intranet or other employee communications (i.e. CCTV)
Promote the availability of TMA sponsored traffic alert services, NJ511, or disseminate traffic alerts to employees
Host at least one (1) onsite Commuter Information Event
Offer an informal flextime program
Offer an informal teleworking program
Encourage employees to register carpool, vanpool or bicycle commute with local TMA
Worksite is located within a walkable/bikeable community and/or within 1 mile of transit station
Implement a teleconference policy
Host one (1) vanpool/carpool formation event
Host one (1) Lunch and Learn event
SILVER LEVEL

Complete 5 Bronze and 3 Silver
Host two (2) onsite Commuter Information Events
Conduct an employee commute survey
Employee participation in alternative commute events such as Bike to Work, Walk Month, Car Free Week
Host at least two (2) vanpool or carpool formation meetings
Host at least two (2) TMA sponsored "Lunch and Learn" presentations
Provide a designated outdoor bicycle parking area or an appropriate indoor area.
Provide employees access to basic bike maintenance tools.
Provide preferential parking for vanpools and carpools
Offer a formal flextime program.
Offer a formal Compressed Work Week policy
Offer a formal Telecommuting program
Provide pretax payroll deductions for commuting cost for employees (vanpool, transit and/or bicycle commuters).
Sell transit passes onsite
Provide onsite amenities such as food service, dry cleaners, ATM/bank, sundries or showers
Actively promote and participate in activities to encourage walking/biking
Provide Emergency Ride Home for employees who have exceeded the maximum number or TMA-provided rides
Provide financial or staff assistance for TMA-sponsored community events
GOLD LEVEL

5 Bronze Level and 5 Silver Level
PLATINUM LEVEL

Complete Gold Level plus 1 Platinum
Telework or compressed work week program that reduces commute trips by 3%
Provide a monthly employer subsidy toward transit passes
Provide a monthly employer subsidy/benefit for employees who carpool/vanpool
Provide a "Parking Cash Out" benefit
Provide first/last mile transportation services to transit stations or similar employer sponsored shuttle
Supplement parking by partnering with local organizations to create Park & Ride
Provide fleet of bicycles for employee use
Provide Bicycle Subsidy for the purchase of bicycle safety equipment (helmet, reflective wear, lights, etc.)
Incorporate Electric Vehicles into vehicle fleet
Incorporate micro mobility devices such as bikeshare, scooters, electric jitneys at worksite
Provide a Defensive Driving program for employees
Provide access to Car Sharing (i.e. ZipCar) at the worksite
Partner with local gyms, Y's or other groups to provide off-site showers
Provide employees access to EV Charging Stations
