WEBINAR: INTEGRATING STEM EDUCATION INTO YOUR PATHWAYS EFFORTS Tuesday, March 25th - 3pm EDT
K-12 schools play a critical role in ensuring that our students are as well educated in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects as possible, in part so that they can enter the workforce and contribute to the national economic well-being. Improving STEM education takes many forms, ranging from updating of math and science curriculum to designing and implementing effective after-school and summer enrichment experiences.
But how can a school leader approach STEM with a holistic approach – offering relevant STEM pathways programs of study, curriculum reform in core classes, and connecting to after-school enrichment and summer activities? The upcoming NC3T/Drexel webinar features two national STEM experts who address the challenge of STEM education leadership and STEM pathways development.
Hans Meeder, president of NC3T and former Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, will discuss findings from his new book, the STEM Leader Guide, sharing the practical, step-by-step guidance on how leaders can implement high quality STEM programs in their schools and build a transforming STEM culture.
Lazaro Lopez, Associate Superintendent of the Township High School District 214 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, will share the approach to STEM education that he and his school leadership team initiated when he was principal of Wheeling High School, a comprehensive Illinois high school with a STEM focus. He will also discuss his current district’s new pathways initiative, being developed across all six of the district’s high schools, in which all students develop core STEM literacy, and students are also given the opportunity to participate in one of the district’s numerous pathways, many of which are STEM-intensive pathway offerings.
Join us on March 25 at 3 pm Eastern Daylight Time, as Bruce Levine, the Director of Drexel University School of Education’s Education Policy program, moderates this enlightening discussion.
