Before your application is accepted, you will receive an automated reply with a Foster Handbook. Please take the time to review this and note any questions you might have.
You must be able to provide a safe, loving, stable and consistent environment for the foster animal.
You must understand that while we do the best we can at matching you to the right animal, many of these animals have endured major traumas and their temperaments may change as the animal gets more comfortable in its new environment. This includes issues like house manners, house breaking, and energy level.
Before your application is accepted, you will automatically receive:
- A confirmation email that your application has been received and will be reviewed
- Link to download our Foster Handbook (please read if you haven't already!)
If/When your application is accepted, you will receive:
- A welcome email from your Foster Coordinator with the next steps
- When you get your foster animal, you will be added to an active weekly mailing list that will remind you to complete your Weekly Progress Report, and include any news relevant to fosterers. By completing this form, you agree to receive this weekly email and complete the Progress Report.
As an R-mar Foster Family, you must agree to...
Have patience and be willing to nurse any injury and/or illness
Transport your foster animal to and from our Sanctuary, vet appointments, potential adopter meetings and adoption events as needed
Complete a weekly progress report. This is an online form that takes approximately 10 minutes to fill out.
House your foster dog(s) indoors
Help arrange and carry out meetings with potential adopters to allow them to meet your foster dog and ask questions
Contact the Foster Coordinator regarding any and all concerns, issues, questions you may have
Contact the Foster Coordinator for approval prior to making ANY purchases for your foster animal, as RMAR will NOT reimburse any purchases made without approval.
Understand that all decisions made by RMAR and/or veterinarian are final
Understand that all foster animals are the property of Rocky Mountain Animal Rescue and must be relinquished to the Sanctuary upon request
Understand that fosterers do have first right to adopt if approved by RMAR, but must inform us by phone, email AND by completing an adoption application the moment the decision is made as we may already be processing an application from another potential adopter
