LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA
LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA empowers adult cancer survivors to improve functional capacity and to increase their quality of life through an organized program of fitness and strength. It is a free 12 week program that helps cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being. The goal is to help build cardiovascular endurance, core muscular strength and endurance, core flexibility, and balance, which may help improve functional ability, reduce the severity of therapy side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes, and improve energy levels and self-esteem.
Survivors meet twice per week for 12 weeks for a 75 minute class. In addition to participating in this free program, all survivors are provided with a free 3-month Rye Y membership allowing participants to access all of the programs that the Y has to offer.
Over the course of one year, the Rye Y’s LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program will help 140 cancer survivors from communities throughout Westchester get the physical activity, supportive relationships, and stress reduction they need to improve their quality of life and boost their recovery.
Please help us bring LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA to cancer survivors in your community! No contribution is too small. Financial contributions to the Rye Y’s LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program go directly to underwriting the costs for each survivor who participates in the program, and does not include any administrative overhead.
